UPDATE: For 2008 election results please go here.
After a re-canvassing of districts in the 14th LD, there are new numbers from the Nassau County Board of Elections. Democrat Dave Mejias has increased his margin of victory by 290 votes. The numbers could increase.
As of today the numbers are:
Mejias - 8043
Sabellico - 7351
So much for King and Schmitt talking smack about this race. So Mejias' margin of victory was better than the two close races with Republican incumbents.
Ciotti-Mirza - 681
Ford-Solomon - 601
Mejias-Sabellico - 692 (so far)

WHOAH! Talk about misleading! The margin of victory for Mejias was 692 votes, as the blogger points out. HOWEVER, the blogger FAILS to correctly post the margin of victory for Denise Ford as well as for John Ciotti. Because the blogger fails at his basic mathmatical skills, let me break it down for him:
JOHN CIOTTI - 6704
ALI MIRZA - 5880
6704 - 5880 = 824
That's 132 more votes than Mejias's 692 margin of victory
DENISE FORD - 9305
ROBERT SOLOMON - 8427
9305 - 8427 = 878
That's 186 more votes than Mejias's 692 margin of victory
As posted originally, the numbers from the board of elections were as follows:
CIOTTI 6,503
MIRZA 5,822
FORD 9,024
SOLOMON 8,423
Instead of "failing basic mathematical skills" it seems the numbers changed in those races too.
The election results were official a week ago. It is my guess that the blogger took the non-official results of the Ford and Ciotti races because his argument would be debunked and decided to take the official results for the Mejias race. How very misleading
