Elizabeth Benjamin reports at Daily Politics that Skelos prefers "Republican Leader" to "Minority Leader." "According to a Senate GOP source, the Skelos is following in the footsteps of none other than now-Gov. David Paterson, who, when he ascended to the post of minority leader after ousting then-Sen. Marty Connor in 2002, made crystal clear his preference to be known as "Democratic leader."
That made particular sense given that Paterson had broken the color barrier, becoming the first African American legislative leader in New York's history, which made use of the word "minority" in connection with his new post a sensitive issue."
Skelos still can't accept his new place in the Senate. He's going to have to get over that real soon.
